Equitable opportunities for underrepresented artists
Culminating in a responsive art installation born from the artists’ engaging cohort conversations and lived experiences. The art, artists and subject matter are uplifted in the gallery and promoted through specific events and community programming throughout the exhibition timeline.
Additional initiatives for vendors and performers
Throughout our artist-in-residence exhibits, events offer expanded opportunities to engage — and compensate — underrepresented performers and vendors.

The Jessie brings together community and nonprofits in a setting that appreciates our city’s rich history while responding to the demands of today. In addition to The Corner Gallery — the headquarters for Moving the Margins — The Jessie creates space for a variety of performances, events, local marketplaces, and idea exchanges connected to our exhibit themes. The Jessie Ball duPont Fund underwrites Moving the Margins artists’ stipends and materials cost.
The Moving the Margins: Artist in Residence is a cultural program of 904WARD, an organization that helps to create racial healing and equity through deep conversations and learning, trusting relationships, and collective action. During each exhibition, 904WARD facilitates a creative evening where art moves change. The hosted conversations with our artists around the contemporary themes of community enable ensuing dialogue with our neighbors.
